Kevin Grierson

Kevin Grierson is a Partner at CM Law whose national practice spans intellectual property prosecution and litigation, data privacy and cybersecurity, commercial contracts and procurement, and trademark counseling. Kevin brings over 30 years of experience and is admitted to practice in Virginia and before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. His clients range from innovative tech startups to established Fortune 500 companies, each benefiting from his hands-on, results-driven approach.

Kevin guides clients through every facet of intellectual property law, including trademark prosecution, infringement analysis, domain name cybersquatting disputes, and complex licensing arrangements. He is known for crafting IP strategies that protect and enhance the value of his clients’ most critical assets. He also served as CM Law’s Intellectual Property Co-Chair for Trademarks during the first seven years of the firm’s existence, helping shape and grow the practice from its inception.

Beyond his intellectual property work, Kevin serves as trusted outside general counsel for several companies, advising on a broad spectrum of contractual, commercial, and procurement matters. His practical business sense and legal acumen make him a go-to resource for clients navigating high-stakes transactions and day-to-day operational challenges alike. He additionally serves as consulting intellectual property counsel to other law firms, providing specialized counsel when their clients’ needs extend beyond the primary firm’s capabilities.

Kevin’s data privacy and cybersecurity practice focuses on helping companies develop and maintain compliance frameworks, respond to data incidents, and negotiate technology agreements with appropriate privacy and security protections.

Kevin cheered at the University of Virginia—proof that he’s never been afraid to rally a crowd. When he’s not advocating for clients, he’s an avid trail runner who has completed multiple ultramarathons, bringing the same endurance and determination to every challenge he takes on. He serves on the Board of Directors for the Colonial Road Runners and calls Virginia Beach, Virginia home.
